It is hard to believe we are already three episodes into our #EatHealthyMorgantown series! Before I go any further though, if you have missed the first two episodes, you can click here to watch them.
Episode 3 brings us to a fun topic. Which leads me to a question that I get all the time in the office. Is coffee good for me? The easy answer most of time is yes. Coffee can be a great beverage of choice and it packs several healthy benefits a long the way. We’ll get more to that in a second!
Joining me in the video is Ryan Lemley, who is one of the founders of Ridge Roasters Coffee. Ryan explains several key things about the coffee bean like where it typically comes from, the roasting process, how coffee gets the flavor that it has, and tell us about the partnership with chill athlete.
So what are these benefits from coffee? Well you probably know the first one. Caffeine is a big benefit of coffee, and usually is the first reason why we drink it. But that is not the only boost you get from coffee. Did you know coffee is packed with anti-oxidants? I know this is usually a shock to most people.
But what is so important about anti-oxidants? The answer is EVERYTHING! Anti-oxidants which typically come from the fresh fruits and vegetables in our food, prohibits (and in some cases even prevent), the oxidation of other molecules in the body. In other words, they can “help” prevent diseases in our bodies like e.g. diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and cardiovascular disease.
Key things to remember about coffee:
